Treatments are always tailored to your comfort level and may be combined with soft tissue therapy, exercise guidance, or lifestyle recommendations to support long-term results. When Spinal Adjustments May Help

Many people consider spinal adjustments when pain or stiffness begins to affect their daily movement or comfort. These are some of the most common situations where an adjustment may be recommended:

  • Ongoing neck or back pain
  • Stiffness or reduced mobility
  • Headaches linked to tension or posture
  • Sciatica or nerve irritation
  • Joint restrictions from stress, posture, or injury

What to Expect During a Spinal Adjustment

A spinal adjustment is a quick, controlled movement applied to a specific joint to help restore normal motion. Your chiropractor will guide you through every step, explain what to expect, and ensure you’re comfortable before any treatment begins. Most patients experience relief, easier movement, or reduced tension shortly after their session.

Frequently Asked Questions

When performed by a licensed chiropractor on an appropriate patient, spinal adjustments are generally considered safe. Serious complications are rare, and your chiropractor will review your health history, perform an exam, and rule out red flags before recommending treatment.

That sound usually comes from changes in pressure inside the joint, causing tiny gas bubbles in the joint fluid to form or release which is a normal process called cavitation. It isn’t your bones “rubbing” or “cracking,” and not every effective adjustment makes this sound.

Some people notice easier movement or less tension right after their first visit, while others improve gradually over several sessions. Your results depend on factors like how long the issue has been present, your overall health, and how closely you follow home-care and exercise recommendations.

In most cases, no. Current guidelines recommend using X-rays only when there is a clear clinical reason such as recent trauma, suspected underlying disease, or when imaging would change your care plan. Your chiropractor will let you know if imaging is needed based on your history and exam.
